“This time of year, I consistently see an increase in patients feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally depleted. Seasonal transitions, disrupted routines, and shifting expectations can quietly impact mental health more than people realize.”

With the recent time change, many people notice a dip in mood or energy. It can take a few weeks for your body to adjust, so here are a few simple habits that can help make that transition easier:

1. Get Morning Sunlight: Step outside early in the day, even for 10–15 minutes. Natural sunlight in the morning helps regulate your internal clock and increase alertness.

2. Try a Light Therapy Device: A bright light box or a product like the SunBooster or Happy Lamp can mimic natural daylight indoors. Red light therapy has also gained attention for improving mood and energy during darker months.

3. Support Your Vitamin D: Consider having your vitamin D level checked or adding a supplement if it’s low. Vitamin D plays an important role in mood balance and immune health.

4. Keep a Steady Sleep Schedule: Go to bed and wake up around the same times each day to help your body maintain rhythm.

5. Stay Active: Gentle movement, stretching, or a short walk outdoors can lift your energy and mood.

6. Eat Nourishing Foods: Choose whole foods and stay hydrated throughout the day to keep your energy stable.

7. Be Kind to Yourself: Adjusting takes time. Rest when you need to and do small things that bring you joy.
